It’s going to be a night to remember!
John and Margo Catsimatidis, owners of Red Apple Media, 77WABC, and WLIR-FM, are celebrating America’s 250th birthday with a star-studded gala on Friday, September 5th at Cipriani’s 42nd St. The gala will serve not only as a celebration of freedom but also as a reminder of the resilience, ideals, and shared spirit that continue to define the United States.
The evening’s entertainment includes performances by artists who have embraced the spirit of America:
- Lee Greenwood, who will salute America with his beloved “God Bless The USA;”
- America’s tenor Christopher Macchio, who performed the National Anthem at President Trump’s inauguration in January;
- Tony Orlando, a 77WABC music radio host and supporter of our veterans who will entertain the crowd with “Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree;”
- and Joe Piscopo, host of 77WABC’s Sundays with Sinatra, who will perform some of Ole Blue Eyes’ most unforgettable songs;
- Vinnie Medugno, whose powerful voice and love of 60s music led him to 77WABC, will regale the audience with a hit from the early days of rock & roll.
The gala event will be hosted by 77WABC legendary air personality Bruce “Cousin Brucie” Morrow, who helped define the station’s “MusicRadio 77” brand in the ’60s.
Distinguished guests will include United States and New York area politicians, business leaders, and community heroes to honor our country’s past and look forward to the future. More details will be shared as they are finalized.
The Catsimatidis family is well-known for their philanthropy. Proceeds from the Celebration of America’s 250th Birthday will benefit The WABC Radio Foundation, The Tunnel To Towers Foundation, The Police Athletic League (PAL), and Shriners Children’s™.
