(New York, NY)  —  Every two seconds someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion. According to medical experts, giving blood plays a vital role in saving lives. Only three percent of the population donates blood. There are a couple misconceptions about donating.  People think its going to hurt, however doctors say it doesn’t.  In addition, some think they’re going to feel weak or it’s going to take too long to recover. Officials say if you donate a pint of blood, it takes your body about 24-hours to recuperate and rebuild that pint of blood.  Also, after donating you get some juice and a snack and you’re good to go.

Doctors say the only thing that replaces blood is blood and that’s why you should donate.  The American Red Cross says everyday we need 30-thousand pints of blood.  They say it’s easy to give and it saves lives.
