(New York, NY) — New York City police are investigating a possible “associate” of the suspect behind Monday’s (July 28, 2025) shooting that left four people dead, including a police officer.
Mayor Eric Adams says pieces of the semiautomatic rifle used in the killings were bought by “an associate” of suspect Shane Tamura, and detectives are working to ID that person. Adams called it an “evolving” investigation.
Mayor Adams says the city is sending two teams of NYPD detectives to Las Vegas as part of the investigation into the mass shooting at a Manhattan skyscraper Monday evening. They’ll be executing a search warrant on the shooter’s apartment and tracing two firearms recovered at the scene after Vegas resident and casino employee Shane Tamura stormed the office building at 345 Park Avenue, killing 4 people before committing suicide.
Reports say Tamura appeared to be targeting the NFL headquarters and had a note claiming he suffered from CTE — a brain disease linked to playing football.
