(New York, NY) – Mayor Eric Adams is running again as an independent, hoping for four more years as Mayor in the city of New York. Last week he was on “The Miller Report” podcast – where he spoke with host Suzanne Miller about his campaign and his opponents.
Mayor Adams said he is proud of the safety record he’s created while in office, and if elected – he plans to continue to try and reduce crime. Adams says this will be through policing rather than defunding or replacing officers with social workers. He plans to build more affordable housing to address the shortage and maintain efforts to remove illegal guns.
“I’m ready for one reason – I love New York. It’s not a bumper sticker. It’s in my heart,” Adams said.
The mayor said Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani promises are unrealistic. He said Mamdani is making false vows such as a rent freeze and free buses.
Adams said understanding the city’s complex economic ecosystem is needed for practical solutions rather than idealistic but unfeasible policies. The mayor said Mamdani, as an assemblyman, had opportunities in Albany to address housing issues but did not.
He touched on Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa expressing apprehension about the idea of turning the city over to him.
Mayor Adams said he is committed to combating hate crimes and fostering unity through community programs that encourage cross-cultural understanding.
“Hate has no place in our city,” Adams said.
He said it is very important to vote in the November election and called on all New Yorkers to register to vote.
