(East Rutherford, NJ) – This offseason, as Odell Beckham Jr. hinted he’d be open to a reunion with the New York Giants, fans couldn’t help but think of happier times in the Meadowlands. Of course, there was plenty of losing when Beckham Jr. wore the blue uniform. But there were plenty of highlights — and yet it all seemed to come crashing down, particularly with “boat gate.”

For the uninitiated — or for those who blocked it out of their memory — that was when members of the Giants gathered for a boat trip down in Florida. It was in the days leading up to the Giants playoff game against the Green Bay Packers — which ended in a loss. It was the only time Beckham Jr. played in a playoff game for Big Blue — and the final such contest for Eli Manning.
Now, as the Giants hope they have drafted their best QB since Manning, there’s renewed promise. And — a viral moment captured on video suggests the “boat gate” curse could finally be toast. At least, that’s what Clem of Barstool Sports put out into the universe — after Giants rookie QB Jaxson Dart was seen throwing a perfect pass to someone riding on a jetski.

The pass was dropped. Nothing is perfect. And it would stand to reason that the Giants, despite having an improved defense, will face their struggles this coming season. They face the most difficult schedule, on paper. The offensive line lacks cohesion and the fear is they will continue to shortcut the offense. Still, with veteran signal callers Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in tow — as well as rising rookie Dart — the offense has hope.
Plus, when the passes are as pretty and well timed as the one tossed toward a jet ski — fans can dream about getting back — back in a New York groove. If nothing else, it makes for a cool video.
