(New York, NY) — 77 WABC Radio midday host Greg Kelly has his own theory on eating pizza and not gaining weight. Every Friday, pizza is served for lunch at the radio station and Greg loves to grab four slices at once. He says he picks off the cheese, sauce and toppings and leaves the crust. Kelly says he knows it sounds “ridiculous” but he’ll be the first to tell you “it’s very satisfying” and he never feels like he “wants to go to bed or lay down on his stomach.” He adds if he had the bread with the cheese, he’d be “comatose.”
Kelly says cheese is lo carb, as is the pepperoni, but it’s the carbs or crust that can “make you feel sluggish or weird.” Some estimate that pizza crust accounts for about 20-percent of the calories in a slice. So, if you don’t eat the crust. you’ll save around 60-calories.
