(New Hyde Park, Long Island) – A 15-year-old boy was hit and killed by a car on Long Island — after he allegedly ran from the police after a reported knifepoint robbery in Queens.

Police say they responded to a 911 call at around 8 p.m. on Saturday on Hillside Avenue in Bellerose, Queens. Officers followed the teen who rode an e-bike into Nassau County and was hit by a Lexus at the intersection of Lakeville Road and Bryant Avenue. He suffered severe injuries and EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.

The driver, 28-year-old Ruyan Ali, was arrested and faces charges including leaving the scene of a fatal crash — and driving without a license.
