(Butler, PA) — President Trump says he’s satisfied with the investigation into his attempted assassination at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania one year ago. Trump told Fox News he’s been briefed by “multiple agencies,” and although he acknowledges the Secret Service breakdowns, he still has the upmost respect and trust in his agents. Six Secret Service agents on Trump’s detail that day have been suspended.
A year ago Sunday, then Presidential candidate Donald Trump was speaking to over 15-thousand rallygoers at the Butler Farm Show grounds, when a bullet was fired at him by a would-be assassin on a nearby rooftop. Trump just happened to turn his head and the bullet whizzed by, grazing his ear. A father and volunteer firefighter in the crowd, Corey Comperatore was killed, and three others were wounded by the gunfire. Shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks was killed by Secret Service agents.
Trump struck a defiant tone moments after the shooting, pumping his fists while agents got him to safety. Political pundits say that image of Trump in the immediate aftermath led to big election day gains with male voters.
