Man Charged in Fatal Brooklyn Hit-and-Run

(Brooklyn, NY) – The hit-and-run driver accused of killing two men in Brooklyn last Friday, was arraigned in court over the weekend.

The 23-year-old, Juventino Anastacio Florentino, appeared before a judge on Saturday, facing charges including manslaughter, recklessly causing death, criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, reckless driving and endangerment.

The crash occurred in the early morning when a speeding BMW struck 59-year-old Faqui Lin and 80-year-old Kex Un Chen at Third Avenue and 52nd street. Both victims, believed to be heading to a nearby City Harvest food pantry, died at the scene. Florentino was identified through surveillance footage and car debris, then arrested at his Staten Island home.
