(New York, NY) — A heat advisory is in place for New York City on this 90-degree Tuesday with temps feeling closer to triple digits.

Mayor Eric Adams is urging New Yorkers to limit their time outdoors, drink plenty of water and head for a cooling center, if needed. To find one closest to you, go to finder-dot-nyc-dot-gov-slash-cooling centers.  He noted that extreme heat is the top death-related weather-related emergency in the city.

Big Apple residents are being asked to conserve energy to reduce power grid strain by keeping the thermostat set to 78 degrees and to hold off using major appliances, if possible.

The National Weather Service is predicting temperatures in the 80’s with high humidity through July 11th, and thunderstorms are likely bring heavy rain and strong winds. There’s a short break over the weekend, then the humidity returns with temperatures in the 90’s for July 16th, 17th and 18th.
