(New York, NY) — Joe Chestnut is looking to reclaim his title as the winner of the Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest which is being held on July 4th in Coney Island. While he might be a champion when it comes to competitive eating, Chestnut says he does get worried if the weather is too hot and temperatures are in the 90s.
He says that’s when his body, if he’s dehydrated, might reject the food. He adds his energy after competitions is pretty bad. He says he’s “like a drunk on food” and all he wants to do is go to sleep. Then, he says he has crazy dreams and wakes up.
Chestnut was banned from the competition in 2024 due to a sponsorship issue. Chestnut has won the Nathan’s Famous competition 16 times and holds the all-time record of eating 76 hot dogs in 2021. By the way, his nickname is Jaws.
