(New York, NY) — NYPD cops are searching for two men and a women who have been hanging out in the lobbies of Upper East Side ATMs, waiting for senior citizens to show so they can scam them out of cash.
93-year-old Penny Zorn says she was fooled her into handing over her bank card to them. She says she walked into her bank branch on 86th Street to deposit checks. She tried one of the ATM machines and it did not work. That’s when one of the scammers offered to help her. They asked for her card and then switched her bank card for another. The scammers then used Zorn’s card to take $1500.00 from her account,
Police say the wanted crew have ripped off at least nine seniors of around $75,000 in all.
None of the seniors targeted have been hurt.
