President Trump weighs in on race for mayor

syndication-the-record-301

(New York, NY) — President Trump says he hopes New Yorkers wont vote for Zohran Mamdani for mayor come November.  He says maybe Mayor Adams is the best choice. Trump did not go as far as endorsing anyone running this Fall while commenting on the race on Tuesday.

The President did say he would arrest Mamdani if the 33-year-old Democratic Socialist were to get in the way of ICE agents making arrests of illegal immigrants in New York. Mamdani has said he would not cooperate with ICE if he were elected.

Trump has also accused Mamdani of being in the country illegally. Mamdani was born in Uganda and moved here with his family when he was seven years old. He became a U.S. citizen in 2018

The New York City Board of elections released the numbers from ranked choice voting on Tuesday, and they show Mamadani easily walked away with the Democratic nomination last week. More than one million ballots were cast in the Democratic primary. That’s the most votes in a mayoral primary since 1989.
