Coney Island Casino?

syndication-wilmington-news-journal-49

(Brooklyn, NY) — The New York City Council is approving a rezoning measure that would allow for a proposed Coney Island casino complex to be built.

It would allow for a casino, entertainment center, hotel and restaurants on one acre of open space. Developers in Coney Island are hoping to be awarded one of three downstate casino licenses the state is offering.

Final bids are in to New York State from eight finalists, who hope to land one of three casino licenses in the New York City area. The proposals submitted by the June 27, 2025  deadline include three sites in Manhattan and one each in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. The remaining two would convert existing “racinos” in Queens and Yonkers to full-service casinos.

The next step in the process is approval for each project by a Community Advisory Committee. The state Gaming Facility Location Board would then make its final decision by December 1st, with licenses issued by the end of the year.
