(New York, NY) — Peter Zisopoulos is being sentenced to 25-years-to-life in the stabbing death of FDNY-EMS Captain Alison Russo of Huntington. Russo was fatally stabbed as she was walking on a Queens Street in September 2022. The jury reached its decision in about one hour. They also convicted Zisopoulos of criminal possession of a weapon.
Russo was a 24-year veteran of the department and also had volunteered with the local First Aid Squad. After her death, she was promoted from lieutenant to captain. Before the sentencing, Russo’s daughter, 43-year-old Danelle Fuoco of Shoreham, spoke in the courtroom.
