2025 New York City Pride March, New York, USA – 29 Jun 2025
(New York, NY) — There was a violent end to the gay pride celebrations in Manhattan on Sunday. As the sun set, someone sprayed bear repellent in Washington Square Park. EMTs treated at least six people who were close by and inhaled it. The man who set off the repellent was cuffed by cops. Two hours later, at 10P.M., two teenage girls were shot near the Stonewall Inn. One took a bullet to the head and is in critical condition, the other was shot in the foot. Cops believe the bullets flew after some sort of argument. They have made no arrests.
Mayor Adams released a statement late last night:
“Saddened to learn about the shooting by the Stonewall Inn tonight as Pride celebrations were winding down. During a time when our city should be rejoicing and celebrating members of our diverse LGBTQ+ community, incidents like this are devastating. We’re praying for the speedy recovery of the victims in tonight’s shooting. The NYPD will work quickly and tirelessly to bring the suspects to justice.”
The NYPD was in full force Sunday afternoon, as the Pride March made it’s way through the one-point-eight mile route, ending in the West Village. Police increased foot patrols, put drones in the sky all in a bid to protect marchers. The parade was uneventful.
