NY: New York City Mayoral primary election
(New York, NY) — Zhoran Mamdani is taking a victory lap after winning the Democratic mayoral primary Tuesday night. He says it was really hard work that got him across the finish line. The 33-year-old says 50,000 volunteers knocked on doors and made phone calls to get the vote out.
Mayor Adams, who is running for re-election as an Independent in the Fall was on Cats and Cosby, going after Mamdani for making promises like a 30 dollar an hour minimum wage. He says someone will have to pay from promises like free buses too. Republican mayoral candidate, Curtis Sliwa says voters are attracted to Mamdani because he represents real change. Sliwa says he will also bring about real change for everyday New Yorkers, because he knows New York in a way the other candidates fail to understand.
No one is sure if Andrew Cuomo will be around come November, that after the former Governor lost the Democratic primary on Tuesday. The “New York Post” is reporting Cuomo will likely decide not to mount another campaign for mayor. An unnamed union leader says Cuomo doesn’t want to run in the general, and wouldn’t have the money to do so, even if he did.
President Trump is slamming Zohran Mamdani, calling him “a 100-percent “Communist Lunatic” on his social media platform, Truth Social.” The President says Democrats have crossed the line by supporting the 33-year-old Assemblyman, who is also a self-proclaimed Democratic socialist.
