(Parsipanny, NJ) – Emergency repairs were completed on Interstate 287 in Morris County, New Jersey, after a roadway collapse near Parsippany-Troy Hills caused major traffic disruptions. The incident first occurred in late March when a drainage pipe failure led to a sinkhole along the northbound left shoulder near milepost 42.2, just north of exit 41B.
Two lanes were shut down for urgent repair work starting Friday afternoon. Crews replaced about 80 feet of damaged drainage pipe, filled and repaved the area, and successfully reopened the lanes ahead of the Monday morning commute. However, the left shoulder remains closed pending permanent repairs.
Officials say additional monitoring and upgrades are underway to prevent future incidents.
