Con Edison Power Advice

syndication-asbury-park-press-93

(New York, NY) – Con Edison is asking customers across New York City to conserve energy. With an extreme heat warning in effect, New Yorkers are finding every which way to stay cool.

Con Edison warns to avoid using the microwave or laundry machines and only use one air conditioning unit at a time. The utility has cut back on voltage in some areas to make repairs and ease strain on the power grid to avoid a blackout.

As of late Monday  (June 23, 2025) night, Con Edison was reporting a little more than ten-thousand power outages across the city and Westchester County, out of the three-point-six million customers the utility serves. Con Ed says several thousand are in the northern and central Bronx, with another several thousand on Staten Island. Con Ed – giving out bags of dry ice Monday at Staten Island’s New Dorp High.
