(New York, NY) — New York City has been on high alert for a terror attack ever since the 9-11 attacks. Even so, security has been beefed up at sensitive location after the U.S. bombing of nuclear sites in Iran over the weekend. Mayor Adams met with the NYPD Sunday to discuss what is being done to protect New Yorkers. He says there is currently no known threat, but the NYPD says it has deployed additional resources and is coordinating with federal partners.
There were anti-war protests in Times Square on Sunday. They were small, but loud. Some Israel supporters showed up too. The two sides were kept apart.
President Trump will meet with his National Security team today. On his Truth Social platform, the President said the damage to the nuclear sites was “monumental.” The president also appeared to support the possibility of regime change in Iran. Trump wrote, “If the current Iranian Regime is unable to Make Iran Great Again, why wouldn’t there be a regime change?”
