Israel: Clearing debris after Iranian airstrike on Israel
(Tehran, Iran) — People went running for cover in Tehran overnight as Israel launched new attacks there. The White House continues to debate how deeply the want to get involved. Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle are looking to limit U.S involvement, including Kentucky Republican Congressman Thomas Massie and Democratic Virginia Senator Tim Kaine.
Kaine introduced legislation yesterday that aims to limit President Trump’s war power. It would keep the president from being able to use military force in Iran without Congress authorizing it. Meanwhile, Republican Congressman Thomas Massie introduced his Iran War Powers Resolution on Tuesday. In a post on X, Massie said, “This is not our war. Even if it were, Congress must decide such matters according to our Constitution.” Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is among the Democrats who are cosponsoring the resolution
The Ayatollah of Iran is declaring “the battle begins” against Israel. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei posted the statement in Persian on Tuesday, in response to the Israeli attacks on Tehran. Iran reportedly fired over a dozen missiles toward Israel this morning, after Israeli forces attacked weapon-production facilities in Tehran. Israeli authorities say there are no reports of injuries following Iran’s attack in central Israel. Iranian officials say Israeli strikes on Tehran have killed hundreds in less than a week.
On Tuesday, around 2,000 Americans stuck in Israel were evacuated out of the country on a cruise ship to Cypress, where they will catch flights back home.
