(New York, NY) – After succeeding within the real estate, cryptocurrency, and hospitality markets, the Trump Organization is going mobile — as in, cell phones. Early Monday, June 16, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. stood alongside their partners in announcing Trump Mobile. The cell phone service will offer unlimited calling and texting across more than 300 countries.
In addition to cell service, the plans will offer telehealth services that will be available 24/7, 365 days a year. There is no additional cost associated with Trump Mobile’s telehealth. And the service will have a call center in St. Louis, Missouri, in keeping with the Trump Organization’s push to make things in America, and employ American workers in the process.
Drive America — a roadside service similar to that offered by AAA — is also included in the price. In a cheeky reference to President Donald Trump’s two terms, the price is $47.45 per month.
Both Eric and Donald Trump Jr. made a point of noting that the plans allow people to keep their existing phone and sign up for service via Trump Mobile. Phones will also be made and refurbished in America. The plans for the new phones are less clear, although we do know there will definitely be phones manufactured within the US.
One of the concerns the Trump brothers spoke about during their presentation was data security, or the lack thereof. The idea is by making phones here in America, that data is more secure. What’s more, the entire venture could be seen as a challenge to Apple — which makes its iPhones in both China and India. Alphabet — Google’s parent company — makes its phones in China, India, and Vietnam. All of those nations have also been involved in protracted negotiations with the Trump White House, amid the push for tariffs — with the goal of boosting domestic manufacturing.
