Train Conductor Slashed Across The Face

(Bronx, NY) – The NYPD has arrested 29-year-old Isaiah Thompson in an alleged knife attack onboard a subway train. Cops had released clear, high-quality images of the suspect — who is accused of slashing a subway worker — leaving the employee’s face injured.

It happened early Tuesday afternoon earlier this week — at the Whitlock Avenue station in the Foxhurst section of the Bronx. Police say the man slashed the left side of the 36-year-old conductor when she was monitoring the platform. She was taken to the hospital. The incident caused delays for Manhattan-bound No. 6 trains.

Thompson was arrested at his brother-in-law’s home. Police say he has a long rap sheet including a series of offenses within the transit system — such as not paying the fare, surfing the subway (riding outside of cars), shoving a police officer, and pushing a woman into a non-moving train.

NYC Transit President Demetrius Crichlow spoke to Eyewitness News and said: “I take this personally. One employee getting assaulted is one too many. These individuals are just coming to work, trying to do their job and they should be able to go home, they should be able to come in and go home in the same manner that they came in. It is a cowardly act to attack one of our employees. What are we going to do about it? We are working with the NYPD and giving them as much as information as we can for them to be able to catch these people. We have cameras in all of our cars, each and every car has a camera in it. The stations have cameras in them. We will give them every piece of information necessary to make sure that you get caught. These employees don’t deserve it and they should be able to go home in the same manner that they came into work.”
