Luigi Mangione court appearance
(New York, NY) — New York prosecutors have released Luigi Mangione’s manifesto, that they say shows his motive for killing UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson. The handwritten documents, that were recovered following Mangione’s arrest in Pennsylvania last December, say the suspect had originally thought about planning a bombing, but decided against it, worried that innocent bystanders would be hurt.
He reportedly writes that the insurance industry as a whole commits atrocities. In a note said to have been written while in custody, Mangione said “I do apologize for any strife or trauma, but it had to be done. Frankly, these parasites simply had it coming.”
Mangione’s legal defense fund has now topped more than one-million-dollars. That milestone was reached on Tuesday, the accused healthcare CEO killer’s 27th birthday. More than 28-thousand people have donated to the Mangione online GiveGoSend account with a median donation of 20-dollars. The University of Pennsylvania graduate is pleading not guilty to stalking and murder charges in the deadly December shooting in Midtown Manhattan that claimed the life of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione is due back in state court on June 26th with his federal trial due to start in December.
