DC: Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Holds Final White House Press Briefing of the Biden Administration
(New York, NY) — One of former President Biden’s press secretaries is parting ways with the Democratic Party in order to become an independent. Karine Jean-Pierre’s decision was confirmed in a press release for an upcoming book about her time working in the White House. “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines” is set to be released this fall. The publisher says Jean-Pierre will take readers “through the three weeks that led to Biden’s abandoning his bid for a second term and the betrayal by the Democratic Party that led to his decision.” Jean-Pierre served as White House press secretary from May 2022 until the end of Biden’s presidency in January.
President Trump is ordering an investigation into actions taken by then-President Biden as questions about Biden’s cognitive state toward the end of his term continue. Trump directed the counsel to the president to probe whether people lied to the public about Biden’s mental state and “unconstitutionally exercised the authorities and responsibilities of the President.” The investigation will specifically look into actions Biden signed using the “autopen,” which has become a talking point for GOP members as they continue with accusations about Biden’s ability to carry out his duties.
