(Washington, D.C.) – President Donald Trump and Elon Musk are engaged in a war of words over Trump’s “big beautiful bill.”
Trump said he asked Musk to leave his administration, while the Tesla CEO said Trump would not have won the election without him. Trump and Musk traded escalating insults Thursday (June 5, 2025) afternoon, with the president threatening to “terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts.” Musk then told the president he’ll have his company SpaceX decommission the Dragon spacecraft immediately. The Dragon is the only spacecraft being used to transport crew to and from the International Space Station.
The Tesla CEO then said President Trump is in the Jeffery Epstein files and that’s the real reason they haven’t been made public. The financier and convicted sex offender died in 2019 by suicide in prison and the public has long called for the release of documents including a contact list of names
Tesla stock is down almost 15-percent. The EV maker lost over 150-billion dollars in value, the biggest hit to its market cap ever, while shares fell 14-percent.
