Man Linked to Palm Springs Car Bombing Arrested at JFK Airport

(New York, NY) – A 32-year-old man accused of helping manufacture the car bomb that exploded in Palm Springs last month has been taken into federal custody.

Daniel Park, a resident of Kent, Washington, was arrested Tuesday night at John F. Kennedy Airport after being deported from Poland. He is expected to appear in federal court in Downtown Brooklyn before being transferred to California to face charges.

Park allegedly shipped over 200 pounds of ammonium nitrate to bombing suspect Guy Bartkus, 25, in California. Authorities say Park first sent 180 pounds, and then paid for another 90 just before the attack.

The two shared radical pro-mortalist and anti-natalist beliefs and had posted in extremist forums since 2016. This is an opposition to more or less anyone being born, under the argument procreation is unethical or unjustifiable. Investigators say Park visited Bartkus earlier this year to run explosive tests, learn bomb-making recipes, and they allegedly attempted to recruit others online.

Park fled to Europe the day after the blast and was detained in Poland on May 30th.
