(New York, NY) – Andrew Cuomo says he regrets resigning as governor in 2021 over sexual harassment allegations. He now says it would be better if he had stayed in office. Cuomo denied the allegations but apologized for being insensitive at the time.
Cuomo is once running for office — and is the frontrunner in the race for mayor, per some polls. He’s also gained strong union support. His campaign paints New York as a city that needs saving, and Cuomo has been critical of incumbent Mayor Eric Adams. Of course, Adams blames Cuomo for past policies like bail reform.
A native of Queens, Cuomo hasn’t lived in NYC since 1990 — and some say he spends little time interacting with residents. Meanwhile, leading progressive Zohran Mamdani and other candidates will face off with him on Wednesday in the first debate. The primary is just weeks away.
