(New York, NY) — Mayor Eric Adams’ administration is looking to make Central Park even safer and enhance quality of life as the park gets more visitors with warmer weather now here.
The NYPD’s Kaz Daughtry says there was a spike in crime in Central Park last year but numbers so far this year are down. There’s also been a big drop in robberies and a crackdown on pedicab violators and illegal vending in Central Park.
Police say there are extra cameras in the park, new technology and extra park patrol officers as well as plain clothes officers. Meanwhile, the Central Park Conservancy has a new Ranger corps to address visitor concerns and quality-of-life issues.
