(New York, NY) — Ever dream about owning your very own MetroCard vending machine? You soon might be able to. MetroCard vending machines and MetroCard Express machines are going to be officially retired from New York City subway stations by the end of this year and the MTA is thinking about selling them.
Before the MTA makes its final decision, they want to see how much interest there really is and want to hear from commuters or collectors who would be interested. Once they go on sale, the machines will not be available for pickup until early 2026. Buyers will be fully responsible for pickup, loading, and transportation and no assistance will be provided by the MTA. The machines are being replaced by OMNY machines by the end of 2025.
