Fifth Avenue To Be Redesigned

(New York, NY)  —  New York City is fully funding its redesign plan for Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue.  It’s going to take 400-million dollars, but Fifth Avenue will be seeing its first transformation in 200 years. Mayor Adams says pedestrian traffic makes up 70-percent of Fifth Avenue, but there’s not enough sidewalk space. He says, “No more cramped sidewalks. No more dodging traffic. We’re making Fifth Avenue more walkable, greener and safer.”

Adams adds, “More people walk down Fifth Avenue in one hour, than would fill Madison Square Garden.” The mayor said, “Fifth Avenue used to be known as America’s street of dreams and those dreams have all been remained silent.” Today “the alarm clock has gone off” to make changes. Officials say work is not expected to start until 2028, since several agencies have to coordinate the project.
