People Hate New York Accents

new-york-city

(New York, NY)  — “Fuggetaboutit!”  A new survey shows that New York accents are hated by a majority of Americans and by New Yorkers as well.  The survey by Podcastle, an AI voice platform, showed that 60-percent of Americans think the New York accent is annoying.  In addition, 45-percent of New Yorkers also hate it.

Apparently, the way you speak has an affect on how trustworthy you appear.   Only ten-percent of Americans say they trust someone with a strong New York accent, while people who have a Southern drawl are viewed overwhelmingly more trustworthy.  If an emoji had to describe a New York accent it would be a frown for annoying.
