(Islip, NY) — The Air Force Thunderbirds are on Long Island ahead of the annual Jones Beach air show this weekend. The squadron landed Tuesday (May 20th) afternoon at MacArthur Airport, to the delight of several people who gathered to greet the Air Force’s premier air demonstration team.
The Thunderbirds are the headliners of the FourLeaf Air Show, performing aerial feats in F-16s capable of reaching the speed of sound. Around 350-thousand people attended last year’s show, so be sure to get there early!
The Jones Beach air show will take place Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25 in its annual Memorial Day weekend slot. The parking fee will be $10 for the air show.
Meanwhile, The lineup has been announced for the new Atlantic City air show. The Visit Atlantic City Soar and Shore Festival will take place July 15th and 16th.
Four F-16s from the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard, a Soviet MiG-17 fighter and a World War II B-25 Bomber will be among the performers.
Visit Atlantic City jumped in to put on the event after the usual show organized by the Greater Atlantic City Chamber was canceled this year as well as in 2024. That event, which typically beings in tens of millions for the local economy, had been facing financial issues.
