(Palm Springs, CA) — The online platform Reddit is banning an anti-natalist group after a Saturday bombing that heavily damaged a reproductive center in Palm Springs, California. Antinatalism is a philosophy that argues against procreation. The FBI says the bomber, who died in the explosion that injured four others, believed that too many babies are being born. Guy Bartkus considered himself an anti-natalist.
There is new information about the 25-year-old, Bartkus. He reportedly left an online manifesto threatening the attack and mentioning “a war against pro-lifers.” Police say he was very active with anti-natalists groups online. Bartkus’ online activity also reportedly showed he had interests in explosives.
Bartkus’ father says he had not seen his son in more than a decade. Richard Bartkus tells NBC News that when his son was nine-years old, he played with matches and set the family’s home on The elder Bartkus says his son was a good kid when he knew him.
