(New York, NY) — Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo still leads the pack of Democrats battling it out to be the next mayor of New York. A new Marist poll finds 37 percent of likely Democratic primary voters would rank Cuomo first in the ranked choice voting primary come June. Zohran Mamdani comes in second with 18 percent picking him first when ranking the candidates. City Council President Adrienne Adams comes in third place.
Mayor Eric Adams is not part of the primary poll because he’s running as an independent now
Cuomo says he plans to run for mayor of New York as an independent too. He’ll run as an independent regardless of whether he wins the Democratic primary. This, as current Mayor Eric Adams is also running as an independent and skipping the Democratic primary entirely.
