(Fort Monmouth, NJ) — Netflix is breaking ground on its new studio at Fort Monmouth.
Netflix executives and New Jersey officials were ecstatic to put on their hard hats and get demolition started more than a decade after the former military base closed. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos says crews are ready to get to work.
Governor Phil Murphy says Netflix Fort Monmouth will feature a dozen sound stages, and the project will not only create short- and long-term jobs but it will include affordable housing units. Jersey officials say the production campus is estimated to bring more than four billion dollars to the local economy over the next 20 years.
