(Newark, NJ) – NJ Transit has announced it will be canceling service this weekend ahead of the Shakira concert at MetLife Stadium — amid the potential for a strike. Neither buses nor trains will be running in service of the concert on May 15 and 16.
As soon as Friday (5/15) — the union representing NJ Transit rail engineers could order a strike — meaning massive systemwide disruption. The transit agency has already announced its intention to use replacement buses as a means to get commuters into and out of the city. But for Shakira concertgoers, they seem out of luck.
NJ Transit’s website is directing people to the MetLife Stadium website in order to determine other transportation options. For example, taking a Coach USA bus is an option — as well as ride-share services, such as Uber and Lyft.
