World Leaders Arrive for the Funeral of Pope Francis – Vatican
(Rome, Italy) — President Trump met privately with Ukraine’s President Zelensky in Rome after the funeral service for Pope Francis. The White House says it was a “very productive discussion,” but offered no details. It was the first time the two met since their televised argument in the Oval Office in February. Trump has hinted a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine may be possible soon.
President Trump says Ukraine has yet to sign the final papers on a rare earths deal with the U.S. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Ukrainian President Zelensky is at least three weeks late to putting pen to paper. The deal would give the U.S. more access to Ukraine’s rare minerals while in turn would help the country gain more security. Trump said he hopes the deal will be signed immediately.
