(New York, NY) — Former New York Congressman George Santos will spend over seven years behind bars. He was sentenced Friday (April 25, 2025) in a New York courtroom.
Santos pleaded guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, and admitted he stole from campaign donors and lied about it to Congress. Earlier he had told reporters he was “totally resigned” to receiving the maximum prison sentence. His attorneys had hoped for a lighter, two-year term.
