(New York, NY) — Former New York Congressman George Santos says he is worried about how he will survive prison life. On Friday, he will find out how many months he will spend behind bars for stealing money from campaign donors. Federal prosecutors will ask a judge to sentence the 36-year-old to an 87-month prison sentence.
Santos tells NY1 that he does not have the funds on hand to pay the half a million dollars he owes in restitution and forfeiture. He has been making money creating Cameo videos and doing a podcast The Republican has not asked President Trump for a pardon, and he says he wont. The one time lawmaker says he believes the President knows his story.
Santos says he hopes he will be put in protected custody behind bars because he worries some may act against him.
