Nadine Menendez, involved in the bribery case involving Sen. Robert Menendez, exits the federal courthouse in lower Manhattan.
(New York, NY) — Jury deliberations resume in the bribery and corruption trial of Nadine Menendez, the wife of former New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez. The jury deliberated for about two hours on Friday after the three week trial. Before deliberations started, Nadine Menendez’ s lawyer told jurors there is not enough evidence to find Nadine guilty of colluding with her husband in his bribery scheme of which Bob Menendez was found guilty.
Prosecutors in their closing arguments made their case as to why they feel Nadine was a partner in crime with her husband saying she was his go between demanding and collecting bribery payments.
Bob Menendez was sentenced to eleven years in prison after he was convicted in July of accepting bribes like gold bars and a Mercedes-Benz and acting as a foreign agent for Egypt.
