(New York, NY) – A program helping New Yorkers cool off is back. With the warmer months coming up – the states Cooling Assistance Benefit is also making a return. The program gives free air conditioners and even offers help with installation to New Yorkers in need. If eligible, they would help get rid of any old units as well. In houses where an air conditioner cannot be safely installed – they will provide a fan as an alternative. You can apply by phone calling your HEAP Local District representative, in person at the local HEAP center or online.
