(Staten Island, NY) – Locals are bracing themselves over the return of the Kool Aid Man Challenge once again making the rounds on social media. The trend first made local headlines two summers ago, when teens were destroying fences. Inspiration for the craze comes from popular 80s commercials where the mascot for the fruity drink – a giant jug of Kool Aid – burst through walls. Imitating those moves, teens will ram through fences with most of their stunts captured on video.
Back in 2023, the problem became so out of control in Suffolk County, Long Island, cops had to recruit help from the public to catch the teens destroying property. Now, with the two latest incidents taking place in Staten Island, property owners are hoping they don’t get hit and police are reminding any teens actions have consequences.
