(New York, NY) — Christie Brinkley is blaming Billy Joel’s drinking on ending their marriage. In her new memoir, “Uptown Girl,” the 71-year-old former super model wrote she never wanted the marriage to end, but “his drinking was bigger than both of us.”
Brinkley and Joel. who’s 75, were married from 1985 to 1994. They have one daughter, singer Alexa Ray Joel. For his part, Joel has been in rehab twice. Back in 2023, Joel told the Las Angeles Times that he stopped drinking “a couple of years ago.” He added he got to a point where he had enough. Brinkley said she’s remained friendly with Joel and they have a great relationship.
