(New York, NY) — It may be harder to belly up to a bar and get a beer thanks to a beer delivery workers strike in New York. Around 600 workers with Manhattan Beer & Beverage Distributors hit the picket line Tuesday over what they call unfair labor practices regarding their pension fund. Their union is also calling for more workers on trucks and improved working conditions.

Manhattan Beer is the exclusive distributor of beer like Corona, Modelo, Coors and Sam Adams to bars, restaurants and retail outlets around New York City, Long Island, Westchester and other suburban areas. Deliveries of certain cider and wine brands could also be held up.

Manhattan Beer has reportedly offered to contribute “tens of millions of dollars” to existing pensions as part of a new deal with workers. It’s not clear when the two sides will meet again.
