Another Columbia Protestor Arrested
Another Columbia University student has been arrested by Homeland Security agents. Moshen Mahdawi is slated to graduate from Columbia next month. He’s a permanent resident of the U-S, but after attending his naturalization interview in Vermont on Monday, Homeland Security agents arrested and detained him. He had been an outspoken critic of Israel’s war on Gaza, and had been an organizer of student protests. Mahdawi’s lawyers call the arrest unlawful and a violation of first amendment rights. They say Mahdawi. who’s been in the U-S for 11 years and and grew up in a West Bank refugee camp, stepped back from the protests in March of 2024.
