Chopper Crash in Hudson River, Killing Six
A helicopter has crashed into the Hudson river, off Lower Manhattan, close to Jersey City, killing six people, including the pilot and five members of a prominent family from Barcelona, Spain. There was a total of six people aboard the chopper; the 36 year old pilot, and Augustin Escobar, the CEO of European technology giant Siemens, his wife and three children. The children’s ages were 4, 5 and 11. No reports on why the helicopter crashed into the river, though witnesses described hearing a thump, and then saw the chopper struggle to stay aloft, and then plummet. One witness says it appeared to be coming apart in the air. The NTSB will investigate.
