ICE at Rikers
The Adams’ administration is allowing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to set up an office at Rikers Island. First Deputy New York City Mayor Randy Mastro signed an executive order to allow the Correction Department’s Criminal Intelligence Bureau, to work with ICE on investigations related to violent criminals, gangs, and drug trafficking. The move is being criticized by City Council speaker Adrienne Adams and the New York Civil Liberties Union, which says Mayor Adams’ administration is selling out New Yorkers, in deference to President Trump’s dangerous deportation regime.
