(Toms River, NJ) — The mayor of Toms River, New Jersey, Mayor Dan Rodrick says rock legend and Garden State native Jon Bon Jovi can take his newest soup kitchen/restaurant elsewhere. He doesn’t want it in his community. Bon Jovi has opened one of his JBL Soup Kitchens in the Ocean County Library, which he says he’ll operate there until May.
Mayor Rodrick says he’s worried it will bring homeless people from all over the state to Toms River. He says Bon Jovi should confine his outreach to the original location in Red Bank, or better yet set up one in his mansion in Middletown.
At JBJ Soul Kitchen, customers can pay for their meals or can pay it forward, helping those who are unable to afford a good meal.
