(New York, NY) – A former member of the City Council has been arrested in Florida for allegedly possessing over 1,000 videos of children being sexually victimized. The disgraced politician admitted to having the material according to a criminal complaint. The former council member has gotten into hot water before, after his tenure in the council was cut short due to a federal bribery conviction. Halloran was found guilty of being part of a bribery scheme to get a former state Senator, Democrat Malcolm Smith, on the ballot for the 2013 mayoral race as a Republican. He served half of his 10-year sentence before he was released because of COVID.
Halloran since his release has been working as a SCUBA diving instructor with a company based on Long Island. 77WABC reached Wednesday morning to the diving company, who declined to comment on the arrest but did say that Halloran is no longer with the dive center.
